Sunday was no ordinary day for some members of Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary staff.
A group of BGCC staff joined forces with folks from United Way and CNIB (Canadian National Institute of the Blind) to make up the United Way Rockstars team to compete in the first-ever Pulling For U - Plane Pull.
The Pulling For U - Plane Pull was organized by United Way, UPS and the Calgary Airport Authority as a family-fun event to raise money for United Way's community investments in Calgary and area.
The event saw teams pull a 180,000 pound Airbus A300 a distance of 25 feet as fast as possible. Each team had 15 people and in the end it was the University of Calgary's Dinos team that pulled the fastest in 16.65 seconds! Our team pulled in a time of 17:54. What we lacked in pulling power we more than made up for in enthusiasm as our team was given the team spirit award!
Thank you to all the volunteers and organizers for such an amazing event!
