Youth Transitions to Adulthood (YTA)

Youth Transitions to Adulthood (YTA)

As with all of Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary’s Youth Housing and Shelter services, our ultimate goal is to have this experience be the youth’s last experience with homelessness. Youth Transition to Adulthood (YTA)’s specific goals are to provide youth, ages 16-22 with Children’s Services status, with a safe, supportive home environment where they can continue to increase their level of education, develop life skills and natural supports that will transition them into adult self-sufficiency.

Who can live at YTA?

  • Female and male youth ages 16-22, that have Children Services Status
  • Youth who are attending school or are working
  • Youth who are working towards adult self-sufficiency

Why stay at YTA?

  • Have a safe and supportive place to live
  • Gain skills to live on your own
  • Build positive relationships

How can you access the program?

Referrals can be made only through Children’s Service Placement Services Office. Referrals are made by the youth’s Children’s Services Caseworker. Placement meetings are held once a month.

Upon intake into the program, the youth will be given the opportunity to tour their new home, meet the Program Coordinator, and discuss their goals and what support system they need.
